Nerdy Girl Goes to Comic Con

I hadn't incorporated my Nerdy Girl Comics into my blog yet, but as I went to my first Comic Con this weekend, it feels appropriate to add it! As I have established, I am a very Nerdy Girl. I love Sailor Moon so much, I was nicknamed Luna in high school. I also love anime in general, science fiction, fantasy, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and many other nerdy topics.

For Halloween I decided I really wanted to be Applejack. I grew up on a farm and other than being a blonde pony, I identified with her. I also identify as Twilight Sparkle, but I like Applejack's look better. To get an idea of what I looked like and what happened, here is the Nerdy Girl comic (and the second one ever drawn) I did after Halloween:

Well, like the comic shows. No one knew who I was supposed to be.  And just to clarify, I wasn't wearing the cape. The cape is part of my vision of Nerdy Girl. I was sad because everyone just assumed I was a regular apple farmer and didn't get it at all. Yes, I could have worn ears and had a tail, but sometimes you don't want to be so literal.

Now on to my first Comic Con. To preface this, I have only ever met Ursula K. Le Guin, a Korean Game show host, and a Daniel Radcliff look a like. I have helped some Blazers when I worked retail as well as some news anchors, but I don't think that counts. To say the least I was a bit star struck. I saw Brent Spiner, Henry Winkler, Norman Reedus, James Hong, Michael Rooker, and the list continues. There were also countless people dressed in costumes ranging from a thrown together Link (Zelda game) to an amazing Tororo, Bender, Sailor Venus and Mars, and Princess Serenity. Here is my Nerdy Girl Comic that captures the highlights of my Comic Con Adventure just Yesterday.

It was an amazing day. I have to day I couldn't stop blushing. Henry Winkler is a sweet man who bear hugs and asks before he can touch you. He is also an author, which I didn't know and he wrote a children's book which focuses on bullying, which is a topic I am passionate about. I now have a copy of that book autographed and made out to me from him.

I also had my picture taken with Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), David Della Rocca, and Sean Patric Flanery from The Boondock Saints. It was amazing, but I can't lie, I was mostly focused on Norman. He made me giggle like a school girl in my head and blush like crazy because he kept calling me 'baby.' Such a nice guy and cute to boot!

And just because "it didn't happen unless there are pictures" For your enjoyment:
